Aiptasia eater ( Pepperment shrimp)

I found this note in the October 2009 issue of "Tropical Fish hobbyist" Magazine. On page 19 of Q&A, Lysmata wurdemanni is the only pepperment shrimp that eats the aiptasia anemone. The other pepperment shrimp that sometimes come on the market is Lysmata californica...It comes from the cooler waters off california where as Lysmata wurdemanni comes from the waters of the Caribbean.
So be sure to ask for the correct "pepperment shrimp".

Happy Reefing,

Hmmm good info, but I don't think there's much to worry about considering the wholesaler usually stipulates what kind of animal they are selling if different than the norm and it probably won't survive long enough in the much warmer lfs tanks by the time you'd be willing to purchase one....just sayin' :p
