Hey...I just had some redish purplish slime in my tank. It was cyano and i removed it right away. I'm not sure if thats what you got but it was what i had...Coraline is crusty purple algae and it is good. Hope this helped you...

There are many different types of coralline you can see >>here<<. Colors range from pruple, pink, green, red, orange and black. It has a very basic structure and grows much like any scleractinia coral incorporating CaCO3 into it's make up.

Cyano on the otherhand is a very ancient growth that has the traits of algae and bacteria but not really defined as either. You can check that out in these articles. Cyano I, Cyano II.
