I got this brownish algae growing on the side of my tank and my live sand has patches of brown in it. I'm gonna add some snails and hermit crabs in soon. This should take care of this right?

It should actually go away on it's own in time. Diatoms are usually part of the normal start up of newer tanks and once the fuel sources are used up the algae will crash. A few snails should be fine providing the NH3/NO2 levels are zero and the NO3 is under control.

Do not add too many as there will not really be enough to sustain a full crew of snails yet. Start with about ¼ the recommeded amount and build it up as the waste producing animals are added.

Cheers
Steve

Hey thanks! Yes, the tank is new. Got 2 Clowns in there now and I'm gonna add about a cleaner crew for a 30 gallon setup. My tank is a 75 gal. Anymore info is welcomed!
