Thanks for the advice, I went with the Koi Pond and have 4 Koi up and running, Water is turning a little green tho but i understand that will go away after a while, 2800 gal pond, 3000 gph pump rubber lined aquascape filtration

Blaze. I live in Florida too. That thing your friend has is called a canal/boat basin. Do people park there boats in it.

Seriously though if you did live by the water in FL you could plump from the canal to a pond in back and have a constant flow of fresh sea water to your pond. Of course that presents its own problems and you would most likely be limited to indigenous species.

The best thing I ever did for my koi pond was install a properly sized UV filter. It was great for ridding my pond of the dreaded green coloring. Good luck and enjoy!
