Water exchanges are cheaper and leave no unintended byproducts in the water. The LFS has shelves stacked with bottles of different stuff. Most successful aquarists use very little or none of it. Even if it works, be cautious of remedies, patience is the best recommendation. The tank will cycle the ammonia naturally and a few water exchanges will carry off the byproducts of that process.

Amquel isn't meant to be dosed straight into the tank. It is used to do water changes, which is what we are suggesting.

Going the fast and easy way sets you up for failure. If your too lazy to do water changes, there is no point in keeping an aquarium.
