Im not sure if you are familiar with the Skilter 250 HOB filter, but it has a built in skimmer.

I upgraded the skimmer from a venturi injection(=the suck...makes more noise than anything) to a small air pump with a coralife limewood airstone, which creates enough micro bubbles for a full sized skimmer, in the small one in my filter. I know it isnt large, but it works well for my tank, and collects pleanty of gunk, whatever the color.

Yes I had one on my 55 years ago . They are OK but boy did they make alot of noise. I think you will be OK. As long as it is pulling it out. I still think 15 Lbs of LR in that tank will give you more nitrifying bacteria and will pull your Ammonia down.

I think I am going to add a 5 gal fuge with a bunch of LR and LS.

If LR isnt cured, how long does it take it to cure? Im pretty sure it is cured, but I need a timeline!

Also, do you guys think a neon dottyback would be a good fish for a 10 gal nano reef?
