and then there was one

Yesterday morning, I thought the sailfin had died, no, he was just faking it. All day long he acted totally normal and I actually started to have hope that this mess was over. This morning he is dead and not faking it this time.

Just the snowflake eel in the tank now.....and a bunch of unhappy looking corals. Diatoms are taking over everything.

We are changing out 3 buckets a day. The nitrites are at 0.3, nitrates are just under 50.

One thing I did not mention about the sailfin was his coloring in death. He was pitch black. None of the other fish had time to change coloring, as when they died, I was right there to remove them immediately. I have looked on the net and could not find anything that this could be indicitive of.

The giant feather duster worms have left their tubes, do you think I should take them out of the tank?

Not sure whether it would do any good, but I would. To resolve this issue, your going to have to do a massive water change with a known source of water, like RO/DI. 21 gallons at a time on a 175g tank, just isn't gonna dilute it quick enough and low enough.

I just bought a 5 stage r/o unit off ebay. I have a teeny car and no place anywhere near where I could buy the R/O water in quantaties needed. Hopefully it wont take forever to get here.
