How long should you wait before adding an anemone to a tank?

Tank should be about 6-8 months old.

1) The tank need to fully cycled
2) Tank should have proper lighting before you purchase
3)Tank should have proper water flow
4)Tank should have all powerhead or pump's intake covered
5)Tank need to have all parameter in check and won't has sharp spike of any reading
6)I would suggest to place your anemone first, so it would move around and settle without sting other coral.(I prefer this but no need)

I understand all the bottom points just wondering why it would need to have been running for 6 to 8 months?

It is just a general rule of thumb that 6-8 months means your tank is fully cycled and all reading are balance. Most "young" tanks would have the once a while spike on certain readings such as nitrate/PH etc.

That's fine then I will give it another few months as mine been up about 3 possibly
