sure just make sure it has NSF on it that means its good to store water and such

I use a brute 32g garbage can for my water, has been working out great.

Trash can on a dolly built for it. I used 3. 1 for the mixed SW, another for fresh, top off water. The 3rd was for the ro/di waste water my wife hated to see go down the drain. Used it for the washing machine.

Plastic trash cans. I put a Kent top off float on one so it is always full of RO/DI water. You can buy other types of poly tanks, but washing them out is harder than a basic trash can.
