Anybody know about Mangrove and/or Mud filters?

I really really really would like to put some mangroves into my system, and was thinking of a little 2'x1' aquarium for a shallow refugium with mangroves. I was thinking 1.5" of mud, and 4-5" of water. Any else have a set-up like this? If so, could you post a picture of it, so I can figure out how i need to fit it into the system? Thanks alot.
