Yes .... its junk ... painted and when real coraline grows on it 8t looks 2 shads of bad

Functional environmentally safe rock. Theres notbing particularly wrong with it, although as was pointed out some people hate the paint.
 
Its not a conventional paint. Dont remember exactly what they used to paint it, but it's done specifically to preserve the porosity of thebroco.

Except that it doesn't hurt the environment by being mined out of existing reef structure like live rock is.
 
I believe that this would be tied in with wanting more rock in your system. If the dye on this stuff is too much to bear, there is always real reef rock which would be my choice, I think.
