anyone have a mag 18?

i just fired mine up to see it in action for a couple minutes, wow very powerful. anyways it will be in my sump under my tank in a week or so, but my question is about the noise. it was kind of noisy. i held it in my hand so it wouldn't touch the bucket i was using either and it was still making a bit of noise. is this normal? does it quiet down after it is running for a little bit? i didn't realized that it would be louder than my hob filter i have right now. thanks

Well the mag18 is pumping a LOAD more water under alot more pressure than your HOB filter's pump. The noise will be lower once its in the sump and in your stand with the door shut. As long as the vibration is not to much you should result in just hearing a hum.

You did have the pump totally submerged? Was the pump producing alot of vibration? Could be the impeller was not properly seated.
