Anyone on who can help with plumbing?

We're trying to get the tank/sump plumbing done tonight and have roadblock--can anyone help?

We're using a megaflow pipe kit, the "new" kind. Here's the problem: what attaches to the bottom threads of the bulkhead--the part that sticks out under the tank? We were just at Home Depot and they couldn't help us find anything that would work--as the bulkhead seems to be ABS we can't glue a regular PVC coupling to it as the glue won't bond. At least that's what the clerks told us.

So: what makes the bulkhead seal to the PVC pipe?

If anyone knows and can explain in tiny words that my non-plumbing-adept brain can understand, I would be very appreciative!

I sanded the inside of the Mega-Flows down and used plenty of PVC cement. I'm not sure if it was the best option but it worked for me.

I had no problem with the PVC cement bonding, and I did no sanding.

some pvc glue works on just pvc , some just on abs. Then there is some glue that works on both. I used the glue that works on both, with no problems
