aquaculturing live rock

I just got a bunch of live rock from a friend. I don't have enough room in my tank to put it in so I set up a 25gal storage container with a power head. I also put a crappy 30watt light on it. I want to keep this rock alive and grow some corraline. Should I put some substrate? filter? what do I need to make the live rock grow while in this container? Thanks

Set it up like a little mini reef with at least 3 watts per gallon on lighting. Calcium will encourage coralline algae growth. Calcium levels should not exceed 450. Keep alkalinity between 2 and 4. You can use B-Ionic to feed the rock. You don't really need to have substrate if all you're doing is growing coralline algae, but it does help in keeping the pH buffered.

We, as a people, know so much more about outer space than we do about our own oceans. This lack of knowledge can very well spell the dangers that lay in wait for us.

The oceans surely would swallow us before a rock comes down to smite the planet of it's life.

I dont see a mention of a heater. You will want to keep the water warm.
