Aqualine Bushke or Marine Depot Lighting systems

Marine depot-Free shipping
3-250 watt mh w/10k bulbs
2-160 watt super actinic VHO
2 fans
hood w/ white reflector
------------
850.00

Aqualine Bushke Spacelight

3-250 watt hqi 10k bulb
4-55 watt pc actinics
Aluminum reflector
-----------------
1039 plus shipping.

These are my two lighting choices as of now. Can anyone tell
me if the HQI bulbs are significantly better? Which system would
you go with and why. At this point in time, another 200. is not
an issue...in too deep anyway

If those are the only choices...I'd probably go with the Marine Depot system...depending on the bulbs. Whose 10Ks are they, Aqualine Bushke Is a very good (probably the truest white) bulb, hopefully the MD set up doesn't come with crappy bulbs.

Does the tank come with a canopy? I think you can probably do retro MH and VHO for cheaper.

my eyes are crossing from looking at lighting websites. If you have someone
else/something else you can think of, by all means, let me know.
All MD says is that the bulbs are german made.

Hara, I bought a retro lighting system from MD. Consisting of 2 x 250 watt 10K MH and 2 x 96 watt actinic PC. The MH 10K's shipped with my system were Ushio. BTW I found that a company name Captive Sun makes these units to order for MD. And that free shipping deal was the ticket for me especially after finding out the box containing the ballasts alone weighted about 50lbs.

We are pretty sure that is what we are going to do as well...the setup would be 3 250 watt mh, 2 160 watt VHO actinics, 2 fans...cost was 850. Free shipping and no tax is definitely a help.
