Are shrimp very vulnerable to nitrates

I was wondering if shrimp are very vulnerable to nitrates. I bought mine a few days ago and the only thing that is a little high in my tank are the nitrates. Now my shrimp looked like it was moltiong but is now just laying on the bottom of my tnk doing nothing at all, almost like it is dying. It still moves a little bit. Please help!

thanks
josh

How did you acclimate the shrimp?

I floated the bag for about 20 min to get the temp right, then I cut the top off the bag, placed a small cup of water in the bag and waited for 5 min and did this again every 5 min til the bag was full of water

Shrimp, as well as other mobile inverts, are very prone to poor acclimation. They are sensitive to changes in salinity, temp and PH. I think the shrimp suffered from to quick an acclimation, for mobile inverts I drip acclimate over the course of several hours. I know some people that drip their starfish for over 8 hours.
