Ive got a 30g with around 30lb of live rock. I was thinking of adding more rock so shall I buy base rock? Do they have the same benefits (after a while of base rock being round live rock)? Thanks :)

I would think you should be pretty close to what you need, but if you are adding more to an already established tank, base rock is a good way to go. Over time it will be seeded by the already established LR in your system and you don't have to worry about adding anything new or undesirable.

The main benefit to LR is the nitrifying bacteria that colonizes on the rock. Little critters that usually found in LR at the LFS or ocean are a bonus but not the main objective.

Yeah had the tank nearly a year and going reef soon as I get some better lighting so I was thinking about how to set up my rocks for anemones and such so I will need flatter rock and more rocks to place them :)
