I smacked it alright, but not with a towel.

That's disappointing. I'm supposed to get mine next week. If it comes in 2 boulders, I'm going to break it up in pieces as well. I though they were going to send several small pieces? I'll let you know what happens next week on it.

You might also want to check out the base rock at ThatPetPlace.com. It's gone up about $10 since I bought it last year but at about $1.00/pound it's a great buy.

That looked pretty good, I am needing more (never thought I'd hear myself say that). I used most of the 60 lbs from hirocks.com under my liverocks and in my 26 gal, just as decoration right now. I might have 15 lbs left and got a 29 gal tank and a 30 gal I'm gonna set up just for lr and ls no fish.

I just got my base rock from hirocks.com, and I am very pleased with what they sent me. It came as 1 large center piece, 2 medium pieces, and several small pieces. I think I am going to order another 30lbs! I would defnitely suggest this site for base rock. For 30lbs. it was $47.00 out the door and included shipping. Not too bad.
