Allright guys. I am trying to decide between a 10in wolf eel blenny, and a 10in snowflake eel.

The wolf eel blenny was on sale for 50% off($17.50)
While
The snowflake eel was $30

My tank is mainly LPS. which eel should I get?

The wolf is nice and chunky! So he wouldn't be able to go carpet surfing through my egg crate!
While the snow was thin.
Either way if the snow is the better choice I will fatten him up and put my tight glass lid on the tank till he gets thicker.

Which one do you experts think I should get? I

Thank you!

I had a snowflake for a couple of years. Sid was a good eel hand fed never ate any one loved silverside till he jumped!but was still alive when I found him.use to swim thru your hand go with snowflake.

Thanks will it jump through my egg crate and onto the floor b4 I have the chance to fatten him up?

Sry. Kinda a stupid question. If I keep the water level 2in below the top of the tank. I'll be a lot safer with it jumping right?

Not a stupid question you just care about the eel. Idk mine was fine for along time never thought about him jumping. Doing what you said should provide ample security. Not like he's thinking of jumping just swimming up and down against glass I think it will be a slim chance of going through egg crate.

Thank you soo much!! You made me feel a lot better! I will go with the snowflake eel!
I want to feed him squid. Is this a good food choice?
And if there bites don't puncture the skin could I hand feed like you? Or Are tongs a good idea?

Could I add a pipe for him to be in? Or are my 85LBS of live rock enough for him?

Some pics of my rockwork and my attention hogging fish

............... Tell me what you think :D

Your rocks would be fine their eye sight is poor but usually they hit the fish. Their bite is weak when there small sort of like a lizard.you get use to it.i never tried squid I feed mine every couple of days you will know when he's hungary he will come out to the food smell.when mine jumped he didn't eat for six weeks then one day ate about twelve silversides.

Dude you tank is awesome!!if I need egg crate work I'm calling you.looks like you did a great job go for it you can't do any more. The pipe is up to you but your rock work looks great.

Get a glass lid. Its better safe then sorry. Your damsel might be lunch once your eel gets bigger. Dont keep your water level too low, it causes salinity swings.

I want to remove my filter or at least put mesh on the flow out part because my freshwater eel loved to swim up into there. I don't think I need the filter with a protein skimmer and uv sterilizer do I? And all the live rock and sand.

I'll be posting my 55 gallon reef build and how I built everything if you are interested. I will post pics of how I made the egg crate top with latches on it for water changes. :D

I'm soo happy that you like it! Because I was thinking of redoing it. Maybe not anymore though?!

Ooh. Well the problem with the glass lid was that it got wayyy to hot in the tank!.. But it's fall so I could cover it up better on the top for now until I can make him fatter then the egg crate holes.. Would that work?

Lol leave the rock. Watch out when the snowflake gets older about hand feeding though. I have a 1.5' black edge moray and he did this..... And there was no food in the tank.

Oohhhh!! Wow! Haha.. That looks serious dude! :Dyeaaa I don't know about hand feeding to often then!? Maybe just while he's small.

All though I don't keep SW, a snowflake would be my vote. Every time I see someone getting one or posting pics makes me wanna start one haha. They are awesome fish. Good luck with your choice.

Takes the fun out of it! Mine would swim into my hand and wrap around it . Snowflakes are a little more docile IMO.
