Best filter for saltwater?

Hey, I own two freshwater tanks and would like to try to make my empty 50G a saltwater. There are so many kinds of filters I see on the market. Do you all recommend a wet/dry filter or canister for marine (no reef) tank? I have experience with both. Also... and what I am really more interested in... What brands and/or models do people like?

I would go with LR for filtration, but if I had to choose a man made filter, definately a wet/dry for filtering ability and adding O2 to the water.
