Hi im looking for a good and not to loud hob skimmer for my 55 gal soon to be reef tank (its just fowler right now) price isnt to much of an concern im really just worried about noise since my tank is in my living room any help would be great thanks!!

if your honestly worried about noise, a low-tech tank isnt going to be your cup of tea.. trust me.. i ran low-techs for a while and noise comes with the territory..

my suggestion is drill the tank for an overflow, or get an eshopps hang on back overflow and get a sump so all your equipment for the most part is hidden and produces little to no noise at all.

if your still set on hang on back gear then i would suggest the hydor slim skim, its an in-tank and worked well for me, pulled great skimmate and was very quiet, rated for 65g lightly stocked so your right on te borderline there but you should still be good..

if you want a true hang on back get a reef octopus bh1000, its rated for 100g and worked awesome for me, a little bit of a hum but not noisy at all.. pulled great skimmate, good luck with your tank!
