Bio balls help

I have 55 gallon tank with around 40-50 lbs of live rock could I take my bio balls out and replace it with a reef octopus 150. Tank has been running for over a year

I'd say you would need to add another 40 to 50 pounds of rock before you could take out the bioballs. You should have appox. 1 1/2 to 2 lbs per gallon of rock.
