I have just started my 46 gal bow front and want to know if the bio wheel I am running with the magnum 350 canister filter should be kept on?

I have heard that they can produce excess nitrates. Is this correct?

I am also using carbon and have heard good and bad about that.

Im getting 45 lbs of LR from liveaquaria today and am going to pick up another 20 or so from liverocks.com after cycleing. would this be enough if i took out the biowheel?

After your rock is in the tank and your biological filter is established, you could then remove the bio wheel's media. Yes they can produce excess nitrates eventually.

Live rock basically will take over your bio balls // wheel..I am currently not using bio-balls in my tank with live rock.
