I would look for something with 3 watt LEDs.

Rapidled.com has a kit for the bio cube 29 that is 3 watt cree LEDs for a little over $200. They require a bit of DIY but if you aren't afraid it seems like it could be an option. That it the brand I have decided on for my new tank.

Thank you convict, Mr X, and Eric! I really like the idea of keeping the hood and doing the led mod that would be awesome. Thanks for the suggestion. I found a 3watt 20 LED conversion for the biocube on eBay http://item.mobileweb.ebay.com/viewi...d=280746129182
How about this I can get it for $175 he said.

Doesn't look too bad. I would give it a shot.

If your comfortable enough to gut your hood and are fairly a good DIY person I say go for it.

Just a FYI:

3 Watt Cree LEDS can be purchased for less that $5 each

Heat sinks can be purchased for $5 each that will house 3 X 3 Watt leds.

Power supply will depend on how many LEDs you will drive. It's basically 1 Amp
per 3 watt led.

The best part is that you can mix different led colors to suit your lighting preference.

You can build a kick *** LED system for under $100 with a little know how and
soldering for 29G (35 Watts).
