Blue knob on top of RODI unit?

Just noticed this blue knoc on the top of my rodi unit and that it can be turned
does anybody know what its for?

Yea it's a flush valve to clear the RO membrane. I run my wide open for a couple mins before and after making water...

so i should open it and flush the water out into the drain before and after every use?

I do. They say you only need to afterwards to flush the membrane of any buildup, but I give it a go before and after because the water where I live is ridiculous... I've only made 30 gallons so far and my sediment filter is brown 8-(

No I hook it up to my sink as I go
