Borneman Flush Device, has anyone tryed it?

Borneman Flush Device, has anyone tryed it?

Hiys guys, i hope your all well.

I have just been reading 'Aquarium Corals' by Eric Borneman and was looking at the water movement bit and came across his flush device on p.341.

It is basically a resevoirtankabove the tank which is fed by a pump. The resevoir has a bulkhead in the side which has a toilet flush valve, so when the water fills to a certain level, the float has risen and pulled the flush flapperup so opening the valveand then water drains back down to the tank.

Just wondering if anyone has tried it and found it works etc.

Andrew

I've never had the room/facilities to try it, but I know some people that have and they were pleased with the way it worked.

I have always wanted to build a surge device like this, but like RR, I don't have the room to do it. I think it would look so cool to see the water surge into the tank...

yeah i know, its just that i dont really want a bigger tank then a 7x7x2,and then sump that fits well into the garage will be, 10 (or 7) x 5 x 3 , which willhave a frag tank above of 2x3x1 and also hold the skimmer, ca reactor x2 , kalk reactor and fluidisecbed for rowaphos. and maybe one for carbon!

I've found that the siphon surge device is much much more reliable.

I have two 32 gallon such devices on my Lagoonal reef.
