Brown algae bloom

I have a 46g tank and (I have had it running for around a month and a half) the guy that I bought it from had it for 2 years... And im starting to get a brown algae bloom and I dont know what do to its starting to get on my live rock pleas help

I recently had a brownish purple slime algae take over my tank. Every water change(once a week about 50%) i would brush as much as i could off the rocks and glass and suck it out. Nearly no sign now. Now i dose every so often with algafix from api to keep it under control. Hope this helps.
