I was wondering if there was a technique to keeping a bubble tip bubbly... I don't like the stringy look! I see others and there's are always bubbly and I want mine like that.

There is no technique. Some bubble and some don't. Some start bubbly and then get "stringy". In either case its not a sign of health or trouble in either state. There have been anecdotal accounts of hunger and light being reasons of becoming thin, but there is no actual proof that I'm aware of.

First thing I would do is to rule out all the problem areas. Are your water test OK? Is your tank less that a yr old? Do you have enough lighting? Is he getting beat up with too much flow?

From everything I've read, even the experts aren't sure what makes BTAs bubble or not bubble, so there's no way to force it to happen. As mentioned, there are theories, but no proof.
