Bubbly stuff on live rock.

Went in to inspect the 10g today and I noticed some bubbly purple stuff on one of the rocks. What is it? Click image for larger version

Some say emerald crabs eat them also. Not sure though. I did what the guy on the video did. It's never came back

Is he using a pump with the airline tubing? Or is it modified to be like a siphon?
