I can't use web at work.

@Carey -I work this weekend so you will pass me.

I think I found my problem. Will test it out tonight and tomorrow night and update on what I find.

I'm betting your PH is actually lower than you have been seeing. It's more common to see PH as too low.

Golly gee shucks, I don't think so. I can't misread a digital, LOL. Besides I'm betting the pH was right. I'll know more tomorrow. LOL

Anyone know if bubbles on some of the rocks (especially the undersides) indicate dead spots?

Wow, I sound old....I'll be quiet now...

You old hahahaha now that's funny shi**** lol.

Oh and btw you probably will beat me with your 90 gal build. Remember I'm going through the hurdles it seems so far. Got the algae thing going on. Both green and brown. Can't clean it up yet. Glass is cruddy and I just got a scraper day before yesterday and cleaned it. Got a brush but nothing will brush off the rocks even if it is justa dangling.

And I've replaced water how many times now??? I lost track, heck I lost track of when I officially started my tank, started the cycle and finished the cycle LOL.

But the good news, is that it is still moving, even a turtle will win this race, but my corals and shrimps and stuff are all alive and seem doing being doing good. I believe my Elegance and Button Polyps could be doing a heck of a lot better, and soon they will be especially if I figured out the problem which I think I did but I'm not gonna get my hopes to high yet.

And if I'm right all tests are right and accurate and both salt compounds are good also. Heaters still crappy though LOL.

So should I order more gfo this week and change it sooner than 1 month cause of the issues?

Also no body had any response to what to do with the polyfilter in the emperor.

Hmm how often should I clean my fluval and what do I clean? Rinse of the charcoal in ro/di water or something? Book just says to replace (but then if I don't have to, I don't want to) cause most of these companies want more money and how but replace your filter stuff.

If I need to "reactivate" the carbon instead of replacing it, I can do that. Then the biowheel thingies, what to do with them?

The digitals are the worst for giving wrong readings. They need to be calibrated. Just because it's digital doesn't mean it's not wrong. I didn't mean you couldn't read the display, I think the instrument may be wrong. Just trying to help. Good luck.

I know you weren't being mean LOL.

I know they need to be calibrated but since it's brand new and came calibrated I didn't figure it'd need it again-----right away. Was a tag included that shows it was 2 point calibrated.

But I'm gonna recalibrate it cause what I thought was the problem turned out not to be.

If recalibrating it doesn't work then I'll be contacting Hanna for support.

Well so I used a Fisher Science Accumet AP-61 tonite. Just did a quick test. pH with that shows 8.04 in my tank and 7.87 with salt mix.

Compared my Hanna at work today and while their's in the buffer solution of 4 showed 4.00 pH, mine showed 4.25 pH, so it's not off by much on that test.

However 5 minutes (not even) after I tested with AP-61, I tested with the Hanna. As I said AP-61 shows 8.04 and well my Hanna shows 8.8. Hmmm?

Salt mix alone in brute with AP-61. shows 7.88 pH and my Hanna shows..........yep 8.8 Hmmmm?

Taking my Hanna back to work tomorrow with my various test results written down and my lab friend is gonna recalibrate it, if he still gets same readings he's gonna replace the probe (well I didn't know we had a few extra of that kind lol) and also I'm gonna get some buffer for storage and calibration. I got yelled at when I said I was gonna have to get more if I have to calibrate this that much. Nope, bring it in, we'll calibrate, ok no prob with me LMAO. I just hope after all that....that the readings match with each other but we'll see.

Oh and good news!!!!!!!!!!! He pushed that button so much he loosened it up and I got it to change modes and can read it in farenheit now heheheh. Course that's after he showed me the formula and I wrote it down on a cheat sheet and stuffed it in the Hanna box lol.

Glad youre getting to the bottom of things, you'll be able to move forward once it's all sorted out. We're all waiting for the tank to transform LOL

I have a mix of many different saltwater fish amongst my tanks, but I love my Tangs most of all.

Oh trust me........ it's very transformed. I scraped my glass again tonite and there is so much big green algae floating around now. I just scraped my glass night before last and it's built up that fast. Heck I can't see the white rock beneath all the brown and green which is some is turning so dark it's looking black. I brush the rock off the other night too but it just dangles.

So once settles down a little then I will bring out the brush again tonite because it's twice as bad.

I swear after all the learning and research I've done, my tank looks like I threw some rock in and left it sit for years doing nothing to it. It looks like its been sitting under the murky water for years and was pulled out. Like in titantic lol.
