bulbs?
I have a current outer orbit hood that uses the double ended bulbs.
There life is about up and now I see that there are all kinds of wattages, 150-watt 5500°K 150-watt 6500°K 150-watt 10000°K 150-watt 14000°K 150-watt 20000°K Currently it has 150-watt 10000 K bulbs and they look good but I wonder what the 14000 or 20000 would look like? Anybody? |

As far as I know you can only use 150 watt mh bulbs in the fixture but the other number is the kelvin rating. Going up to 14k and 20k will give you a bluer looking light in the tank. Again there's a couple different schools of thought on this as to wether or not using these bulbs makes any difference in the way the corals thrive, but for the most part it seems to fill the asthectic nitch in our own personal reef keeping taste. Just search threw the pics in this site of the different reef tanks and you should be able to tell the difference in some of the tanks you see. Some will look more wight and others will have a blue tint to them.
