Butterflies/Tangs in QT

As Butterflies/Tangs like to graze on algae-infested rock etc. throughout the day, should a clip with Nori seaweed etc. be kept in the QT tank if a Butterfly/Tang is put in it?

Not a bad idea. This will help you gage how much they are really eating. Remember to only leave it clipped in the tank for just a few hours. tht small of water volume can be affected much faster by decomposing food. I think your fish will love you for it!

OK!

I was also planning on doing the same in my main tank when/if I add a herbivorous/grazing fish - does the same apply then (35gal)? Should I replace what's on the clip every day or so?

Correct, same rule applies. I feed nori about every other day. I put it in when the lights come on and take it out about six hours later. Make sure you take out any large peices your fish have torn off and you see floating around your tank. Like I said, you do not want that decomposing in your tank, can cause your nitrates to go up.
