Buying copepods

The advantage is that alot of times that`s all your mandarins and seahorses will eat. You can sometimes train them to eat prepared foods but it`s not easy and does not work all the time.
 
Oh OK I see. I thought you had some of those. If that`s the case you really dont need that many. You could get some pods in your tank just by adding some new LR.
 
You can if you want. I`m just afraid of over infestation. It`s up to you.

You didn't say what kind of fish you had in the tank or what size it was. a six-line wrasse will make quick work of the pods. I saw them everywhere in my tank till I got mine now...hardly ever. they are a great food source for fish like mandrins and gobies. If you put some live rock rubble in your sump and seed that with the pods you will have a great food source for a long time to come. If you don't have a sump just put a small pile of rubble in your tank where the fish can't get. this theoreticly should give you a breeding ground for them.
 
right now I have 2 clowns, a neon goby, and a purple dottyback. No refugium
