I've heard of this too...but from my (limited) research on the subject it doesn't do anything beneficial. If you wish to run a calcium reactor, you'll need CO2
(something about how it forms carbonic acid in the water). Otherwise, CO2
in a reef is an effective way to lower pH and that's about it.
