Should I test for calcium now that I have candy cane and pagoda corals? I have been using IO salt, should I use reef salt instead? I guess I should test and then decide. I found a aiptasia, guess I should kill it?

Yes to test.
No, the salt is a matter of choice, and I use IO.
Yes nuke the aiptasia. It will take over.

I like the IO Reef Crystals salt. It has nice high ca & alk. With regular water changes there's almost no need to add supplements to the water. I try to keep my Ca around 450 and my alk between 9 & 11. Peppermint shrimp ate my aptasia (and he's a pretty cool critter to boot)!

I Joe Juiced the ones I could get at and put 3 pep. shrimp in to take care of the rest and as far as I can tell they have wiped out the aptasia.

Like phyl says ... cal and alk need to both tested for and additives used to bring them up slowly if there down. I use 2 part b-ionic great stuff easy to dose...
