If i don't have any corals do i have to test for calcium? or should i get enough from my salt i use instant ocean. I know its a dumb question but i don't have a test. Just wondering if i should get one on pay day or not.

Its best to keep you CA/ALK in balance at least at normal seawater levels regardless of what you keep.

Keeping alk & Ca balanced will, in turn, help keep your pH where you want it to be. Also important for coralline growth if you're interested in that.
