I have set up my 29 gallon with LS and LR in it, and don't know this? Can I put 2 or 3 hermit crabs and put them in the tank with out any fish? All my stuff in the tank is safe to put a fish in, but I am leaving for vacation and fish would be to hard for the person watching them to keep safe and all. So should I just wait or could I add the crabs.

The crabs are scavengers and with a new tank there will not be anything for them to scavenge really except for stuff on the live rock if its good quality live rock. Unless your going to be gone for more than a week I wouldnt worry about anything till you got back. If you put the hermits in there feed the tank a little bit before you go. The biggest thing you need to address is the evaporation of the tank water.

Has the tank cycled yet? If it is a brand new tank I would not put anything in it until you get back.
