Hello folks I have a question I have about a half or maybe 3/4 of a inch of live sand in a 55 gallon that is currently cycling my question is could I mix sand box sand with it or would that defeat the purpose of the live sand thank you

Yes you can just be sure to rinse the new sand to help with the dust Also keep in mind that the sandbox sand if full of silicates so you can expect a diatom outbreak

Ok thank you is there no way to soak it in saltwater or something to kill it be for I put it in lol

You would need to "cycle" it much like a new tank but i think you'll still get a bloom when you move it the the main tank. Id go with a coral based sand it's better for the system IMO.

Ok thanks is a coral based sand live sand I'm on my third tank and its kinda a budget build lol and the live sand at my lfs is pretty salty that's why I only have 3/4" in a 55 gallon
