can you scrub hair algae off live rock

Hi my tanks nitrate levels are high need to do a 20-50 percent water change rather quick was wondering if i could scrub the rocks clean with a toothbrush or nail brush but their is lil life like feather dusters on their would it harm it thanks

Sure but take the rocks out of the tank. Do the water change but before you dump the old water scrub your rocks in the bucket. If you do it in the tank it will float around and attach to everything.

Get some cleanup crew. They are cheap so you don't need to brush the rocks. Brushing it will remove your beneficial bacteria and cycling will start all over again. Turbo snails and hermit crabs
