Carpenter Wrasse scare

I was looking into my tank two nights ago and saw my carpenter breathing kind of funny and with a web like cocoon around him in a secluded area and it kind of freaked me out. All water parameters are fine (except nitrates are higher than I would like 10). Did some research and found that wrasses will do this when they feel threatened. Next time I will try to get a pic.
