i have a 29gal with 2 maroon clowns and the substrate that i have in there now is the sand that you use in a pool filter. it looks real good in the bottom of the tank but it is just to fine and when the fish move around in it, some of the suspended particles cling to the glass and it looks nasty. so i want to switch to another substrate but i dont know what is better to use. should i go with CC or LS?

do you have live rock in the tank, or just sand? we need to determine where all the beneficial bacteria is at before we remove the substrate...which from the sounds of it, may be their primary home.

i have 12 lbs of live rock. planning on getting 30. they have there hidding spots and places they like to hang out.

Switch the substrate over to better sand in stages and you'll be fine. Never go with CC unless you like a lot of extra work.
