Center braces

Anyone ever cut n replace there top cross braces with clear acrylic? I've been thinking about doing this so it gets rid of the dark spots in my tank.. I live the view. But those awful shaded areas due to the braces drive me nuts!! Any thoughts or ideas?

They are there for a reason. They help to keep the glass from pushing apart. There is alot of force from all that water pushing out.

I know that... That's why I'm thinking about replacing them with clear acrylic.. Wondering if anyone has done this yet.. My idea is to cut out plastic.. Glue and put plastic bolts on each end for secure support..
