chaetomorpha no3 ?

ok guys i have a sorta high NO3 problem dont knwo if since i put my chaetomorpha in my penguin HOB filter where its dark and crowded is it holding nitrates ? and not consuming them ? i plan on hooking back my 10 gallon sump and making a real fuge for it any ideas?
