cheap fuge for 30gal?

i have an aquarium stand with a tall, narrow, closed in compartment in the middle with a door. Seems like it would be perfect to hide a fuge! Is it possible to set one up in a tall skinny water jug?

Next question: would i be better to set up a mini fuge in a HOB filter? I've got an extra one.

Either way, what should i put in the fuge? What would be do-able and most beneficial in a tiny fuge?

I've got a 30 gal reef, 3" of sand.

Alright, i think the idea of the fuge in the stand isnt going to work. Im not going to be able to put anything inthere big enough to have any benefit.

I am however going to put some media in my HOB filter and use that as a sort of fuge.

WHat kind of media should i use? What are bioballs used for? and what about those things that look like little foam donuts?

You could also check out a HOB refugium.
