Chemical filtration

So I'm do far for a change in my chemical filter in my fluval g3 and I was wondering if I should get just regular carbon or can I use things like purigen or bio chem. I guess I'm trying to gather some intel. I'm fairly new to the whole canister filtration.

I have chemipure and purigen in my canister along with some sponges. My water is great.

So is carbon not necessary? Cause the canister has mechanical chemical and biological filtration in it.

Chemipure is carbon and GFO mix.
