The reason I asked is because that's a Crocea clam. Crocea's are the most light demanding of all the tridacnid clams. MH
is almost always recommended as the sole type of lighting to keep these under, and I would agree. Too much light is just about impossible for these clams- assuming they are properly acclimated. Too little and they will fade in color and health over the period 6-12 months. FWIW I had mine 4" under the surface and directly below a 250w MH
and it loved it! Good luck.
