cleaning my seahorse tank

Why does the ammonia rise right after I syphon my gravel? Any ideas. Is this just what happens? Does it reduce fast?

Chances your seeing the ammonia spike because of disturbing trapped particles and detritus in the sand. It should subside fairly quickly.
