A buddy of mine has a Euro Reef skimmer and the collection cup does not have a lid. Will this still run w/o the lid? TIA

In most skimmers the lid is what the bubbles hit to cause the bubbles to break up so that the gunk can run down into the cup without all the water just running over the edge. He should probably try to create a lid out of some kind of plastic lid that is the same diameter. Someone else who has that specific kind may be able to be more specific.

As much as I hate to send you to the competition (I'm kidding! 
), check with Darin at Captive Reefs ( www.captivereefs.com ). He sells Euro Reef and can probably get a replacement lid for the cup. If not, I'd bet he can tell you where to get it.
