Another question would be how to feed them? They require nutrients like that that our fish put into the water column right? Or do they feed off of the algae that we have in our refugiums?

Nope, they grow just fine at room temp.

Can one use some of the waste from a skimmer collection cup??

With the high concentration of waste in the skimmer I probably wouldn't use it.

Phytoplankton which is a microscopic algae like organism is one of their main sources of food.
