coquina clams

has any one ever used the little clams in their refuge before?

I was thinking that they might help reduce nitrates and nitrites since they are filter feeders.

Would it be ok to collect them from a beach, since i know where alot of them are, let them sit in a small aquarium with a ph and a heater for a month or so to purge them.

It's just an idea i had and would like some feedback.

Do you have any pics of these clams? And how sure are you that the clams would help instead of making things worse.
